Party president Baroness Ros Scott came to Gloucester on Saturday to support Liberal Democrat councillors who are campaigning against a massive waste incinerator in Gloucester.

Ros Scott joined a team of deliverers in Barton & Tredworth ward, distributing the party newspaper - The Gloucester Bulletin.

The Bulletin's front-page story is titled "Tory waste incinerator could be in Gloucester".

Liberal Democrat parliamentary candidate, Cllr. Jeremy Hilton said:

"It was great to have Ros Scott join our team campaigning against a toxic waste incinerator in Gloucester. Despite their denials, the Tories have identified three sites in and around the city as potential locations to burn the county's household and commercial waste.

"I am totally opposed to this plan. We need a low carbon solution for dealing with our waste. Under the Tory plan, toxic ash will be dumped in Gloucestershire. There are environmentally friendly options available. The county council should rule out building a massive waste incinerator."
